Staff Analysis of the Legislation

HB 522 amends Chapter 10 of Title 42 of the OCGA by adding subsection (c) that requires five hours of education for barbers and cosmetologists that include instructions on domestic violence and sexual abuse awareness. The curriculum should include how to identify signs of violence and sexual abuse, a list of resources for victims, and a disclaimer that states that holding the certificate does not obligate them to inform law enforcement of violence or sexual abuse they may see.
